Jim (Tiger) Ronquest, former MVDHA member wins World Duck Calling Championship at Stuttgart, Arkansas on November 25, 2006.
Jim was a member of the MVDHA for a number of years during the 1980’s when he was already fired up about duck calling competitions. Jim has won the Missouri State duck calling contest and 14 sanctioned regional contests and has called in the World contest 15 times. In his first years of competition calling Jim caught the attention of Butch Richenback, maker of Rich-N-Tone duck calls. Butch recognized Jims’ potential to someday win the World Title and worked with him and encouraged him over the years that finally paid off in 2006, of course, Jim was blowing a Rich-N-Tone acrylic call. All of this does not take away from the fact that Jim is an excellent waterfowl hunter.

Today, Jim is Vice President for Public Relations of Rich-N-Tone duck calls and is in charge of Rich-N-Tone guide service. Jim also produces his own television show on Men’s Outdoor and Recreation channel. This can be seen every Friday at 11:00 AM and every Sunday at 2:00 PM central standard time. The direct channel is 604 and the satellite Men’s Outdoor channel is 218. |

All of this has come about because Jim has been a dedicated and tireless worker in the sport he loves, waterfowling. When he lived in the St. Charles County, Jim did a lot to promote competition calling in that area. He was instrumental in bringing a sanctioned regional contest to the Old Monroe D.U. fundraiser held each September at the St. Mary’s picnic grounds outside Old Monroe. He was responsible for producing the first Midwest open Hunting-Style Duck Calling contest at the St. Charles county Fair in 1992 and another one there in 1993. He again tried to create such interest when he conducted a duck calling contest at the Clarksville, Mo. Apple Fair held each fall. Unfortunately, none of these drew enough interest to sustain themselves. But Jim tried to give us something.

Jim now lives in Holly Grove, Arkansas with his wife Rosie and his six year old daughter Jenna. Once every five years in Stuttgart the Champions of Champions calling contest is held. The next one is scheduled for 2010. Let’s wish Jim the best of good fortune in winning several more world titles between now and then and then win the big one!
Good luck Jim, the MVDHA is truly proud of you.
